Fall 2017

Fall 2017

This fall we purchased a beautiful piece of land right in the middle of the city of Iquitos! This will be the future home of our boys as they begin to transition back into the city. This property was formerly a children’s home called Arco Iris that cared for children in Iquitos for the past 25 years. In spite of deciding to close their doors, their hope was that the home and property continue to be used to care for children.

This four-acre piece of property is ideally located near one of the area’s best high schools and several universities. There are multiple living spaces, dorm rooms, classrooms, bathrooms, a large kitchen, offices, a garage, and a soccer court already built, as well as a lot of undeveloped space ideal for future construction. We are so thankful to Arco Iris for making this property available to us and for their legacy of excellent care for children in Iquitos.

We have developed a multi-tiered approach to the transition of our children back into society. When children first come into our care they live at Las Lomas, our home outside of the city of Iquitos, where they can retreat and recuperate from past traumatic experiences, learn to be children again, and develop a firm foundation. As our boys enter their teenage years, it is important for them to have access to new educational opportunities, form closer community with peers and mentors outside of our home, build connections for future employment, and deepen their involvement in their church. This new property is in the perfect location for this second stage of transition.

We need your help to transform this property into an excellent home for our children. Please consider making a donation to Not Forgotten today as we make investments in our children’s futures. Thank you!
